Seashore field trip - Morar
, Start Time: 10:00, End Time: 16:30
Organiser: Scottish Wildlife Trust Skye Members' Centre
SWT contact: Tim Bowditch
Leader: James Merryweather
Skye & Lochalsh people meet at Armadale pier to catch the 10.10 Mallaig ferry, mostly (if not all) as foot passengers - obtain ticket before embarking (free with Highland bus pass, but get a ticket anyway). Return ferry at 16.00 (arriving Armadale 16.30).
Meet Morar Field Club at Mallaig pier for transpost to Traigh beach.
Morar people meet either at pier to pick up visitors (10.40) or at Traigh Beach car park at 11.00 (or when visitors arrive from pier). Low tide will be at 13.44 (to be checked and confirmed).
You will need: Wellies, waders or old shoes with shorts (we will be walking in the sea, so ordinary footwear and feet will get wet and walking boots ruined), waterproofs and lunch with drink for several hours. Also: seashore field guide (Hamlyn & Collins are pretty good), a small towel (to dry hands between dipping and handling books, camera etc.), a margarine tub or two, pond net, hand lens and notebook as preferred.
WEATHER - should the weather be foul and/or ferries be not sailing we will change the date to 18th September and try again. Decide for yourself whether or not it's sensible to turn up at Armadale or ring James on 01599 566291 to find out what he intends to do.
