Marine animal entanglement and debris-A Talk at An Crubh-Sleat

Posted on

Please join us for this free talk by Broadford resident Ellie MacLennan, researcher at the University of Glasgow and co-ordinator of the Scottish Entanglement Alliance. See poster attached and look up Sleat Nature Group on Facebook for event information.

Marine animal entanglement in fishing gear and marine debris is a growing threat around the world, pushing several species of whales and dolphins to the brink of extinction. In Scottish waters entanglements are increasing, posing conservation, welfare, economic and human safety concerns. Ellie is working closely with the Scottish inshore fishing sector to better understand the impact of marine animal entanglements, and to develop practical solutions. She’ll highlight recent findings and exciting new project developments.

We hope to see you there!
